Today was a special Sunday as our youth were in charge of our service.  What a blessing to have such a wonderful group leading us in worshipping our Lord..  They did a fantastic job.  Here's a link to the service if you like but you might want to keep your finger on the volume, we had some technical difficulties(our apologies).

Youth Sunday

We have a wonderful youth group.  They are small in number, but there is nothing small about their desire to be a contributing part of our congregation.  Sunday 5/31 is going to be our youth Sunday.  Every part of the service is going to be led by our youth.  They are working hard to make sure that the service is one that you will enjoy and receive a blessing.  Please keep them in your prayers as we prepare for Sunday.   After the service, please take a moment to tell each young person thank you.   If you cannot be present in person, please watch our live stream service.

We look forward to having a wonderful service on Sunday where God is glorified in all that we do and hearts and lives are touched with the message of the Gospel.

Pentecost / Memorial Day

Paul Scott Abbott graciously led us in worship today with a great message about "War and Peace".  If you're interested, check out our Youtube channel.  If you don't want the entire service, skip to about the 30 minute mark for the sermon only.   www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyX0YGHxZEg&t=1842s

Today is a special Sunday.....
We are celebrating Pentecost.  Jesus told his disciples that he would not leave them comfortless--that he would send another comforter to be with them.  When the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples, they became bold and proclaimed the Gospel.  The Bible says that 3,000 people were added to the church that day.  The same Holy Spirit is with us today and will provide for us.  Thanks be to God!
This is also the day before Memorial Day.  We take time to remember the men and women who have given their lives for this country.  We thank them for their service.

June 19:  JPC goes to Gwinnett Stripers game.  See the May 10th blog for details or see info on the Narthex table.  Money for tickets is due June 7th.  Tickets will be distributed June 14th.

We would like to keep our prayer list updated and current.  The Session approved a change to the way it's handled.  A name or situation will remain on the prayer list for 4 weeks.  After that time frame it will be removed unless there is a continued need.  Please share that information with us and we will gladly leave the person or situation on the list.  To be respectful of privacy, we will not publish "answers to prayer" unless specifically requested to do so.

What's next for JPC?  That's a very important question, information and updates will be shared as we make progress.  In the meantime, please continue to pray for the Session and each other.

May God bless you today and always.  From your friends at JPC.

What's next for JPC?  That's a very important question.  This past week, Session met with Rev Jacob Douylliez(stated clerk for the Presbytery), to learn what we need to do, moving along in God's service.  Information and updates will be shared as we make progress.  In the meantime, please continue to pray for the Session and each other.

A huge Thank You! to Tim and Connie Love for coordinating our mission outreach to North Jackson Elementary and to everyone who contributed to help supply the children with things they need.

Over the years, we have had great times at the games, and we think that this year will be a fun fellowship event for us.  Tim and Connie Love are coordinating this event, and this email is to share some information with you.  We hope to have a big crowd of family and friends to attend.

Here is the information that Tim and Connie have provided:

  • Group ticket price is $18.00 per person
  • Seating will be in Section 109
  • If you would like to attend, please indicate so on the sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex.  (If you will not be able to come to the church to sign up on the sheet you may email me your name and number of tickets you want, and I will get that information to Tim and Connie)
  • If you are paying for the tickets by check, make the check to Jefferson Presbyterian Church and put for Gwinnett Stripers tickets.  If you pay with cash, please put the money in an envelope with Gwinnett Striper tickets on the envelope, your name, and number of tickets you are paying for.  You may put the envelopes in the offering plate.
  • Due date for the money is Sunday, June 7
  • Tim and Connie will pick up the tickets during that week and then on Sunday, June 14, the tickets will be distributed at church.  (If you will not be at church on the 14th, please contact Tim and Connie Love at 706-693-2380 for information on how to receive your tickets)

Tim and Connie have created an information sheet that will be on the table in the narthex.  Here are some excerpts from that information sheet:
