Make A Friend If You Can (You've Got A Friend, Part 2)

Thank you to Garry Glenn for leading Sunday's service.  Delighted to have Jill with us as well.  They are always welcome and a treat to have with us.  The entire service including Garry's " Make A Friend If You Can (You've Got A Friend, Part 2) " message is on our youtube channel if you missed it.

Congratulations to Kristy Gamble on her degree completion.  We all need to keep learning whether in school, life, or most importantly in the deepening of our faith.

Sept. 6th there will be a brief meeting after worship to elect an elder nominating committee.  Shon Peppers will be leading worship and moderate the meeting.  Please stay a few minutes, it likely won't last too long.

There are some new Logo decals and mugs in the Narthex.  We ask $1 donation for the decal and $5 donation for a mug.

Lifelines(sunday school) begins Sept. 20th with a kickoff breakfast at 9:15 .  Sign up sheet coming soon.  Study material should be available Sept. 13th.  Please make plans to attend.

That's all for now, best wishes this week.

We were blessed to have Ron Gilreath with us Sunday.  The entire service including Ron's " Suffering for the Gospel " message is on our youtube channel if you missed it.

Happy Birthday to Alicia McGee and Karen Evans !

Sunday we had a Church Picnic at Hurricane Shoals Park.  It was August in Georgia weather but the fellowship was good and the kids enjoyed the water.  Great get together and want to give a BIG thank you to Robert, Sylvia, Ken, and everyone else who helped make this possible.

JPC got a "Thank You" letter from North Jackson for our contributions to their Care Closet.  We also want to thank Tim and Connie for coordinating this mission outreach.

Ladies Lunch & Devotional is gathering at Beef O' Brady's 8/17 at noon.  Thanks Margaret.

Saturday August 22 from 10AM-2PM we'll have a kitchen clean-up.  September 6th there'll be a brief congregational meeting after worship to elect a member to the elder nominating committee.  JPC will have some new window decals and mugs available in the narthex soon.

Have a great week and try to stay cool.  Your friends at JPC.

The Compassion of Jesus Christ

Ron Gilreath was with us again today.  I don't know what else to say about Ron's continued service to our church but the Lord is truly looking out for us.  Ron has blessed us with his presence time and again over the last few months and we can't thank him enough.  Today's entire service including Ron's " The Compassion of Christ " message from today is on our youtube channel if you missed it.

Happy Birthday to Pat Slaughter .  Happy Anniversary to Harrison & Sandra McDonald and also to Ken & Stacy McDonald, may you all have many more.

Congratulations and best wishes for all the children and youth this school year.  Especially for our Seniors, Ava Marquess, Emma Gamble and Tristan McDonald.  Have a wonderful school year!

Church Picnic:  Don't' forget, Sunday afternoon, August 16th we'll be getting together at Hurricane Shoals Park.  Gather at 3 PM and eat around 5 PM.  See sign up sheet in the Narthex.

Session:  During this time, the Session is tasked with completing a Mission Study Report.  The purpose of this report is to "write a summary of the work your congregation has done to take stock of who you are, where you have been, and where God is leading you".  It gives the Committee on Ministry, the Pastor Nominating Committee, and the prospective pastors a clear picture of the congregation's identity and direction.  We will be using Lifelines classes, church suppers, and other means to gather this information.  Input from all our family of faith is essential.  We ask for your continued support, patience, and participation in this effort.

As Ron mentioned, the "feeding of the 5000" is the only miracle(aside from the resurrection I think?) that is included in all four of the gospels(Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) and it was an act of compassion.  Seems important doesn't it.  We can all probably be a little more compassionate, I know I can.

Have a great week.  Your friends at JPC.
